TONY CHINNERY HARPSICHORDS

Blanchet harpsichord

Blanchet harpsichord

This harpsichord is based on a rare example of a single manual French harpsichord by François Blanchet, dated 1736. The members of the Blanchet family were the most important harpsichord makers in Paris in the 18th century. (Taskin worked for Blanchet's son and later married his widow). I have extended the range by a tone in the bass and a semitone in the treble to give it the full 5 octave range FF-f'' (plus transposing 415/440). It has two 8' registers with a lute stop. The example shown is mounted on a Flemish stand (A French type apron stand is optional).
